Mary J. Blige will launch her first fragrance


Mary J. Blige will launch her first fragrance – My Life by Mary J. Blige – on HSN

The songstress’ scent is so highly thought of that it’s the first fragrance launch exclusively on the 24-hour shopping network.

Blige – a 9-time Grammy winner – describes the scent as the “epitome of a confidant woman.”

She explains in press materials that “it has a softness to it because sometimes [you] feel soft but there’s also a fruitiness for when you’re feeling edgy. There’s a toughness too, which are the wood notes – it shows people that were the full package.”

My Life by Mary J. Blige was developed with the skincare brand Carol’s Daughter, which boasts Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Jay Z as financial backers

My Life opens (that’s scent industry talk) with a lush, rich floral composed of gardenia petals, Bartlett pear and white freesia.

The fragrance unfolds (more scent vernacular) to reveal a harmonic heart of tuberose, blooming jasmine, gold lily and apricot flower for a strong feminine signature.

The fragrance is grounded in soft, natural sensuality, evoked by a blend of cashmere woods, praline, sesame and incense.
