Sephora will launch a second perfume this May 2010 dedicated to the world of showbiz and to Josephine Baker in particular. After having announced Le Parfum Sex Pistols, here comes Le Parfum Josephine Baker. And guess who is behind this new venture by Sephora?...
It's none other than niche perfume house Etat Libre d'Orange. As you can see their name is not associated with this venture anywhere on the packaging. But they are the ones bringing their know-how while choosing to remain nameless. http://buscatuperfume.blogspot.com/Because The Scented Salamander smelled something and asked, we got confirmation from ELO that it is indeed they who are developing the fragrances for Sephora. Remember when I announced the Sex Pistols scent I wrote that the bottles made me think of the ones by Etat Libre d'Orange? Then I had previously also got news from a reliable source that ELO were preparing to introduce a Josephine Baker perfume, so 2 + 2 = 4, n'est-ce-pas?
We'll have occasion to return to this branding story when both fragrances become available. For now, Vogue France have announced that Le Parfum Josephine Baker was created by perfumer Cécile Matton. It is described as a warm and gourmand scent. Notes include grapefruit, champagne accord, cardamom, jasmine, curry jungle essence, black pepper, labdanum, sandalwood, lorenox.
Of the perfumes Josephine Baker has inspired, two others are still in production: Guerlain Sous le Vent and Byredo Bal d'Afrique
The 50 ml bottle of Le Parfum Josephine Baker is priced at 39,50€.
